Hello all. My name is Robert but u can call me Bob

I am looking forward to discussions.I am new to forums and decided with the new year I should be more helpful and learn more as well.Forums have a lot to offer and I would like to learn more and help if I can. Florida 50 year old resident.

So here is my Rogers introduction with my serial # (D 05030) and I would like to know more about these early drums. I will offer as many pictures as you request. These are in my home for less than 24 hours. how can I easily spot 3 or 5 ply? Also I got an extra XP8 24" kick with the set which also has a 24" 13 14 18.The serial not sequential but all are early 5 digit with preceding 0 & all the factory hardware with exception of Acrolite snare. I do own a Supra but will try the Acro since this set I want very warm sound. I may add a Rogers snare to complete. My plans are to use as a double bass. A new venture since I never used two kicks just a double pedal.

My other set is a loud thunder early 70s Vistalite. I need warmth as I age.LOL

Rings or no rings? grey interior? Pictures of the inside would help to identify. Sometimes, they were shipped together but not all the drums were the same construction. BTW welcome to the forum.

Keep fixing them up...

This drum was made in late 1975. It could be either a three ply or five ply shell due to the time in which it was made. Count the plies in the reinforcing ring. You can see the layers of ply on the inside of the shell where the ring meets the shell. There will be either three or five layers. That is the reinforcing ring. Count the layers at the bearing edge. It could be six, eight, or ten. If it is six... you have three ply rings and three ply shell. If it is eight... and there are three on the ring, the shell is five. If there are five on the ring, the shell is three. It there are ten... then you counted five on the ring. And the shell is also five.
