Heads for Slingerland

Back in the late 60's what heads did Slingerland use on their drums?

I am going to get all new heads but I haven't played a Slingy in a long while.

With my 9/72 Rogers, I tried many different brands but always came back to Remo Coated Ambassadors on top and clear on the bottom. They open up the drum sound and is more "Vintage" to my ears. And the Aquarian Head on the 20" Slingy bass has a Remo Muffle Ring that seems to do nothing but give it a dead thud.

So what do you guys use? Playing mostly Rock a billy/ Country/ ,Alternative type stuff, don't know what to call it, all original tunes.

Cheers,Ed

Even more vintage, try using coated Diplomats on top and clear dips on bottom, totally singing, but will dent if you're a super hard hitter. :)

Found it!!

Ed, slingerland made their own heads up until the mid to late 60's then went to remo as their manufacture! the remo's your using stay with them, for your bass drum get a Powerstroke 3 you'll be a happy camper!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I bought a kit with that ring on it and I agree with you(thud). I took it off and put felt strips on both heads
