Cut up a old leather purse or whatever into pads, glue the leather onto
a 20 grit hook and loop sanding disk with DAP Weldwood contact cement.
Carefully run the leather with your orbital sander onto the glue.
It heats up the glue with friction and turns it into little balls that just come right off without too much fuss.
My local drum restorer buddy explained the method and sent me a little phone camera video, I've not tried the process myself but I'm also a wood carpenter and have NO fear when it comes to stuff like this.
I've removed plenty of glued wraps using all the other crappy time consuming methods so I can understand where some folks on the forum are coming from.
