has anyone bought from StatusCymbal before?

Loading...

hi everyone,

i was wondering if anyone here has ever purchased items from StatusCymbal on here? he seems to have a very large and valuable assortment of items on here.

i planned on doing some business with him, but afew things made him seem a bit shady...

first off, he kept constantly reassuring me he has all these parts and that people on the forums dont believe him.

2nd, dude has no paypal. tells me hes sold so many things on here and ebay, yet doesnt have paypal and wants money orders.

so, has anyone here bought from him before? not trying to knock the guy or anything, just looking to validate him before i send him a money order...

thanks

hey RBD i'd hold off on that for now until you find a person that definitely has done business with him.

he had responded to me about a part that i had needed and had me shoot him an email through his regular email then i never heard back from him. but i never sent him the money either. in fact, he never even asked me for the money for the part. so it's a tough one here.

I'm not getting my hopes up on any deals from him either.

funny enough, i actually had a bit of a hard time selling that kit. i was almost thinking of lowering the price but just a week ago a guy stopped by my house interested in a snare drum i have and fell in love with the gretsch kit instead and bought it for my asking price.

but what's funny is that ever since i sold it everyone is interested in it. it's a true collectors piece. my pictures didn't do it justice. the thing is mint.

being a restorer though, it was bittersweet, because there was nothing to restore. it was already all good. ah well, it did enough end up going to a good home which is really what matters to me in the end.

I also tried to do a deal with him on some floor toms. Email after email went unanswered, then several months later he responds and wants to know what they were going for. Once I replied with my normal, average price I pay per floor tom, he never replied back. At first he was all hot to trot, I asked for his paypal account and that seems about the time he stopped correspondence.

Paypal, outside of ebay, offers no protection, so even if a deal goes bad on a personal matter, there is no recourse, so why people insist on using it for personal business is beyond me. I hate paying fees for my own money, and they get you both ways on ebay deals, coming and going.

So for him to request a money order is the way we all used to pay, so what's wrong with the continuation of that practice?

Although I would not buy from this individual outside of ebay, I really see no reason to pay paypal fees outside of ebay.

i agree with that. and i have done business with people on here also outside of paypal or as a gift through paypal without hesitation. but they are people that i have gotten a good vibe from and/or spoken on the phone with and all that.

this person easily seems quite flaky and doesn't make you feel good about doing business with. well, that's how i feel anyways.

it's a shame too, i mean, he had the part i needed! haha.

I have a floor tom shell to be delivered tomorrow from him via FedEx. There was a delivery attempt made today but it requires a signature. I was advised against dealing with him but took a chance. I paid by PayPal and so far things have gone well. I will update tomorrow after the item arrives.

Well. On the Ebay pay-pal account if you sell on ebay don't you need a pay-pal account?? or some other type of a p/p account?? To me that would be a Red Flag but thats just me...I know when i sell on this forum and others its always P/P...It seems like members on this site and others iam on "Say i will take the parts and mail you a M.O. it never comes in the mail....Mikey

Well this is my first transaction with StatusCymbal and I too heard some not-so-good things from others. All I can say is my floor tom shell just arrived. It's a beauty and the price was in line with others I've seen. Overall I'm very pleased.
