Is there a way to make the wrap more supple and pliable before I re-glue it? The wrap on my 70s Ludwigs shrank a bit, lifted and buckled slightly so I'm trying to get it flat and supple before applying cement. Thanks.
Hard, dry wrap
70s Ludwig Standard Aqua Mist

and a whole bunch of snares and hardware

No there really isn`t. When it shrank, it may not line up again. NO HEAT !i
I did a shrunken wrap one time and after removing it, it did not quite line up. If it did shrink a bit, before gluing, you should try what worked for me.
This is what I did.
I put the under lap end on dry with no glue and installed both lugs closest to it tightly. Then started the gluing after that point and little bit at a time pulled on it and lined it up as I went along pegging each lug hole with sharpened pencils. (that`s all I could find to work with but I think you get the idea I`m suggesting).
After drying, I removed the lugs and left the pegs then lifted both ends to glue. The lap was shorter but plenty enough.

Don`t try to do it all at once, use contact cement and you may see the drilled holes in the wrap warp a bit, work it slowly but evenly. The pegs still go in the warped holes.
Any previous splits or cracks .... and you`re done pulling, they`ll tear.

I did it alone, you may want to find an assistant. I`ve been using contact cement weekly for thirty years, it can be tricky alone.
