I live in a small live/work artist community, and ironically out of the 12 lofts closest to me 5 have drummers. I used to think everybody played guitar, but now... Not a day goes by without hearing the ubiquitous beginner's snare to floor tom roll coming from someone's place.

That's funny, I would modify it, though. Plenty of drummers out there, but not so many really good ones! IMO the skills of the drummer makes/breaks the band!
