Gretsch round badge snare

Loading...

[Attachment: 2340]This Gretsch came into my hands from an old friend who is retiring and wants to sell his gear. All I know is it is metal it has the round badge which means the 60's I think. The wide snares (double the usual wires) made by Gretsch.

Can anybody fill me in on the model and what this snare might be worth. I don't think I am going to sell, but I am curious.

Yes it is 5 1/2 x 14 inches and 8 lugs.

Sounds like COB (chrome over brass to me) post a picture to be sure. A well respected drum. Should be 8 lugs and 5.5" in depth. If it is very clean and complete it could go for a high of around $500. You see a decent amount of them on eBay in various states of care. I got mine recently in the mid $200 range and it's pretty clean with a late 60s throw off. Post a picture if you have a chance. It is very warm sounding compared to most metal shell drums. Quite a good funk drum IMHO.

Enjoy.
