Gretsch Round Badge or Ludwig Downbeat

Loading...

Hi there!

Long time lurker here, don't usually contribute much and I am usually just here to learn from the masters! I have been playing on a 1960s MIJ Star stencil kit for the last few years and love the sound and feel of vintage drums. However, I am ready to upgrade to something with better hardware and that will be easier to tune!

Looking for either a Gretsch Round Badge or Ludwig Downbeat kit from the 1960s.

Will be a players/gigging kit so need not be collector quality but should be in very good condition.

20-12-14 or 20-12-16 combos.

Pearl/Oyster finishes are great!

Let me know what you have.

Thanks!

I have a late 50's (Brooklyn factory 3-ply) Progressive Jazz kit. (Rewrap) in burgundy sparkle. Even as a rewrap, because it's a late 50's kit, it won't be cheap. It's complete and all original hardware. 13", 16", 20" w/matching 5.5"x14" snare.

PM me if this is a serious inquiry.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Purdie -

Thanks for the information, but not quite what I am looking for. Thanks again, though!

Welcome to the forum Kirke! Good to see a fellow Texan here. I'm just south of you near Galveston. Good luck on the hunt!

Thanks Brewkowski! Do you know of any good places around us to check out vintage drums for sale? Rockin' Robin in Houston has some good stuff sometimes, but I don't know of anywhere else to check!

There is Houston Percussion Center but I am not certain on their supply of vintage gear. I usually go window shopping at Rockin' Robins. They are sometimes a bit high on asking prices but tend to negotiate some. I know that forum member JohnnyRingo trades some with them and has had good success I believe.
