Gretsch Round Badge Bass Drum Claw Hooks?

Loading...

Hello,

I orignally posted this in the Non-USA forum. Since the whole kit is basically a round badge copy, I thought i would post it here too.

Thanks!

In the 60's - maybe earlier - Gretsch switched to a more streamlined claw. Now they use a claw with no timpany-type t-rod and you have to use a drum on it.

These are my Faucet-style T-Rods and Claws for my late 50's Gretsch

Thanks Kona! I like those t-rods. Waaay cool!

I couldn't find any definitive info for Gracy on line, so here is a round bage that has the same t-rods as my Gracy, so I'll go with the butterfly claws similar to the photo (and like you have). Oddly enough, the lugs and tom mount look identical to my Gracy, only the Gracy mount is not a rail mount.

Thanks for your help.

The claws and t-rods in your photo are the newer "vintage" hardware. I special ordered them for my 2011 Custom USA shellpack BD. They put the latest (2011) claws on my BD by mistake. I went back to the drum store where I ordered the shellpack and first I was told .....mmmm....it's a little late to change them now -it may be a bit of a problem and delay. In the meantime I contacted the Production Manager at Gretsch.....he's on a drum form that I belong to. I told him about the hooks. He said no problem - don't order them - I will send you out a complete new Vintage set (16 claws & T-Rods). He did and when I emailed him to thank him and send the 2011 model claws back. He said don't bother sending them back - keep them. Pretty good service I have to say. The new 2011 hooks have the drum key-type tension rod heads and they have a very nice protective serface under the claws = beautiful hardware. I only went with the Vintage ones because they look nice on my vintage build-out for that kit.
