Here’s the chance to own a rare Gretsch round badge snare drum, 5.5x14
This one is a late 1950s in Anniversary Sparkle and has the Gretsch Diamond Anniversary badge. The shell is unmolested, no extra holes. Bearing edges appear to be in excellent condition. See photo with arrow where one edge has a very slight depression. Shell is round.
The Microsensitive works about as well as you could hope. Has the typical problem with the inner mechanism. A brass bushing was fitted to the thow to enable it to work. See photo of underside of throw showing two replacement screws and one replacement metal strap that holds the ball bearing in place (the ball bearing is in there). Original baseball bat lever. I don’t know if the snare wires are original and it looks like one had broken and was clipped off.
I believe the hoops are original but they are banged up. Many scratches and scrapes and each hoop has a small area where there is a dent. This is difficult to see in the photos.
Wrap is tight all around and at the seam. It has small scratches (but still looks vibrant) and one panel has rash down to the shell. The lugs, throw, single point butt and muffler are original. Not sure abut the tension rods and washers. All lugs have scratches and some pitting.
More photos available.
I would prefer pickup in person in the NYC area so that the buyer can examine it carefully but will ship insured at buyer’s expense.
$650
