I'm curious if anyone else was foolish enough to have bought a Gretsch "Monster"bass pedal in the late 70's,early 80's.My then wife purchased one from Jack's drum shop in Boston and had it shipped to Daytona,after my Sonor pedal imploded.It lasted ONE SET.Aluminum connecting bars from the footboard to the axle with no bearings.It was later replaced with a Pearl "clone"pedal in the catalogs-I moved on to a Premier 252,which I still use today.The "Monster" hangs on the "Wall of Shame" next to the Ludwig plastic snare drum.

Ya - Gretsch had their hardware issues.......everyone knows about that.
But they do make nice drums.
I bought a 1968 Gretsch kit new in 69 and replaced that "Floating Action" pedal really fast. I used an ASBA made in France (Caroline model). It was a beauty. Today I use a Ludwig SpeedKing with the WFL footboard - mine was bought new in 1961 by the former owner of my 58 Gretsch kit.
I think Gretsch made a good move to go with Gibraltar Hardware.
They gave it a try with their Monster gear...most of it was heavier that what came before. Trial & error.........there's lots of stuff out there that has come along and bit the dust so to speak....= your pedal being one.
