Gretsch or Rogers

Loading...

I love Gretsch that's why I had em on the road. First kit I bought with my own money was Gretsch too. Heads are more likely to fit and spin nicely with Rogers from that era though. Dependable tuning is nice.

Totally subjectively, Rogers is a brand that is "more rock" than Gretsch - from my own randomly acquired impressions over the years. But recently I was re-introduced to their excellent quality.

I have 6 Gretsch kits from my 24 bd 40's kit to my 2012 18bd 12/14 4.5x14snare kit and I like all of them. The 40's kit 24/13/16 /6.5x14 snare rocks very loud. If you're thinking Gretsch maybe look for the Name Band in the 20/12/14/5.5x14 config. I have one in this smaller drum option and I get no end of comments on the sound - especially the 'punchy' bass drum. It's all in the heads, the tuning and the micing. Trust me you can get a great sound out of just about any kit.....Rogers, Ludwig even Gretsch.
