Does Gretsch still make sticks? If not when did they stop? In one of the recent lots I got, there was an older stick bag with Regal Tip Jack Hannah sticks,J.C model,Dean Markley Jazz N's and some Gretsch 5A's. I've been using them for practice and shows and man are they great. They take my abuse and barely get scuffed. I do a lot of rim playing with my metal band, and they take it. I'd have many a Vic snap within 5 minutes.

I have 2 pair of Gretsch 1S's from the 70's still in the bag. Unique as the neck is pretty thin compared to others. I used 1S's and Vic Firth Generals in the disco band-pre micing days...I'd guess that Gretsch and Slingerland used the same vendor for their sticks. Very similar finish and both brands prone to warping, which you don't really see any more.

I have a pair of Gretsch 7D Mel Lewis sticks. They are just a keepsake. I use the BopWorks Mel Lewis model for my Big Band nd small group Jazz gigs.
