Gretsch Drums - Keep Them or Sell Them?

Loading...

I have a Rosewood Gretsch drum set that I purchased in the mid 1980s. Probably not exactly vintage, but getting closer. They are gently used and in pristine condition. I started with a shell pack (22 inch bass, 12, 13 toms, 16 floor tom and metal snare). I added a 10 inch tom and 18 inch floor tom, so it is a 7 pc set. (still have Pearl hardware and mainly Paiste 3000 cymbals as well). So the thing is I now have discovered electronic drums and my wife is a whole lot happier with me banging on those versus my acoustic Gretsch set. I am debating whether I should sell them or just hang on to them anticipating an increase in future value. Based on my research it looks like they would fetch somewhere between $1000 and $1500, which isn't a whole lot more that I paid for them back in the day. I'm making a 1200 mile move across the country and not sure whether its worth moving them with me. Any advice?

Keep them. If you questioning yourself, then you'll eventually regret yourself. Besides, no electricity + electronic drums = no drums. CryBaby
