I put normal triple flange hoops on the drum and want to replace the tension rods. the drum originally had single flange hoops and the tension rods are 2 1/2 inches in length. do they need to be this long using triple flange hoops???

If you don't get a solid answer you should be able to measure from the hoop flange down to the lug and get the aprox size. Figure a good 1/4" of thread engagement before you start to tighten the head. This should get you pretty close.
