Gretsch 4 point butt?

Loading...

Does anyone have a picture of the 4 point butt plate that was on "Name Brand" Snares in the late 50's - 60's?

I have a shell that I am going to restore.

It's 5.5 x 14 with a pretty pronounced snare bed.

It has some extra holes in it but you can clearly see the og holes.

To me it looks like it had a "Microsensitive" throw off and a 4 point butt plate.

I just can't seem to find a shot of it on the internet.

I believe such a thing exists from what I have read but I can't find it.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen that device before.

Did some other snares use it for the primary tensioner?

Or did they make a similar device with a throw off?

Gretsch made a 'similar' throw-off......the Renown Strainer....They were/aren't very popular....a pretty weak strainer. I have a couple Gretsch snare drums with these strainers and I've tweaked (not altered though) them to function decently.

All my drums....sad to say.....are in storage - otherwise I'd take photos for you.

Yes, the Renown was the one I was talking about.

It probably worked better as a butt plate. LoLoLoLo

There aren't that many "butt plate" pics out here on the net. Hmmmm
