GoodWill Score!

Boys, Every once in awhile it's still possible to find some incredible deals if you're persistent in looking/searching. This is one of those deals and I just wanted to share it with you guys because you are the ones who can really appreciate it.

I spotted an auction at Goodwill a few weeks ago for some Zildjian brass that was a 'pick-up only' deal. The cymbals were located in San Jose, Cali and I'm all the way across the country in Eastern Pennsylvania.

I posted an ad in the general section here at VDF asking if there was someone local to San Jose who would be willing to pick-up, pack and ship the cymbals to me. Lo and behold, my buddy Creighton responded informing me that he had a good friend who lives near San Jose and he asked him (Norm) if he could do the favor for me. Norm consented, so I put in my bid and sat back to see where the auction would go.

Up for auction was the following: a 22" Hollow-Logo Ping ride, a 20" Hollow-Logo Thin crash, and a set of 15" Hollow-Logo New Beat hi-hats. (see photos)

I won the lot for $203 dollars! Another $85 to pay for the box, bubble wrap and shipping across country made for a total investment of, $285 for the lot!!! SCORE!

I couldn't be happier with the purchase. The cymbals are in damn near new condition. No key-holing at all on any of them and they still have a lot of their original shine. No chips, dents, or dingers anywhere. Just some dirt and stick marks which is to be expected from a set of cymbals this old. Whoever owned them before me had excellent taste in cymbals. God bless his heart wherever he is!

Big thank you to Creighton and Norm, wouldn't have been possible without their kindness and generosity.

Here they are!

You got that right! :p I've made some bad buys here and there mostly from buying by going from photos only. Hard to tell if you're getting burned when all you have to go by is some fuzzy photos. It balances out somehow... I'm just glad it does. This one makes up for a some of the bad buys...

Nice to get a complete set like that. They've probably been together since someone bought them new. Hollow ink models usually sound great. Enjoy those!

Congrats buddy! I never came across a hollow logo that I didn't like. I bet that 20" Thin Crash would make a killer light jazz ride.

Oh my f'k boys, they sound amazing! I told my wife, I finally found a set of cymbals I can live with and love. The ride is all stick with a really great sounding bell. The 20" crash is out of this world! Warm, explosive and cuts just right. I have a thin 18" crash on my left which fits right in sound-wise with the new batch. I've never owned a set of 15's before and I'm loving these. I had a ton of fun trying them out and I'm going back for more.

Vyacheslav - Right on brother, the 20" crash is perfect for a light jazz ride! The crash is killer on it too. Thanks for the well-wishes, I plan to enjoy these for a long time to come.
