coated Ambassadors, or clear ambassadors or emperors, also to answer your other post more than likely that's what Ian Paice was using also!white coated either ambassadors or emperors top and bottom.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

+1 on VM2K's rec's. I also love the Ludwig Medium Coated as Reso's. Excellent heads for that.

I like clear Diplomats, but I've had good results with Ambassadors.

You'll be fine as long as the bottoms are thinner than the tops.

Tune with care and avoid tape if possible.

I love ringing toms. Sustain that seems excessive from the throne will probably sound quite different out front from 20 feet away. Other amplified instruments will cover some of that up, too.

If you're being mic'ed, a good soundman should be able to handle the sustain as long as the drums are in tune.

Clear Diplomats regardless of batter head here.

As a hard hitting drummer who likes a vintage sound, I've been using coated powerstroke 4 heads. They have a great tuning range, take a beating and go the distance.
