Good news, I dont have to sell my drums

Well some of you know I had been trying to sell my drums over the last few years to raise money for a trip to Europe. Well, I am not quit there yet but close enough and now with covid it will be a couple years before we can go. So, a couple more years to save some money. So no need to move these drums now, I have plenty of room for them and I kinda like them. I did collect a ton of packing materials, not sure what to do with them maybe recycle them. Sure feels good knowing I dont have to go through all all the hassle to sell them like negotiating price and the packing and shipping. Nope my biggest problem is what kit to set up. Plus I have a two kits set up in two different places so I can go jam with my friends. Now, to complete my drum room and get those drums out of the closet and on display.

Jeff I only have one kit now and miss the days of multiple kits so enjoy them hope to see I soon btw that hoop is not cob I magnet it the other day thought I had one sorry

Hi JC! Excellent news that you can hang onto your drums for a bit longer! Just hold onto all your collected packing materials if you can. You never know when you'll need them! As I finish up my new Drum Room, I have a lot of boxes from all my snare drums. Even though I have no plans to sell them, I'm keeping all the boxes for future use...just in case! I have a much larger garage now, with plenty of overhead shelves, making storage easier for all my boxes!

Maybe start hoarding packing material since you have a good start? Spare room in my basement has plenty as well, so I know of where I speak...............

Now enjoy the unexpected consequence of the times to save for better trip later. And a local trip to the Chicago Drum Show next year.

If I only had one kit I would be fine with that, I just went on a Craigs List rampage a few years ago and now I have too many drums. But that is a problem that I can deal with.

I can only dream that my drum room will be as nice as yours! But those boxes and all that packing crap is taking valuable space in my shop. I do have some money invested so I will more than likely hold on to it for the reasons you suggested.

Sure will be saving for the trip, having no vacation this year will help that out. I have heard the Chicago show is back in St Charles next year. That is much closer to me and much easier to get to (no toll booths). So unless something comes up I will be going and hope to see you and others as well. I have missed all of the shows at the new venue so looking forward to going again!

Good news for a great guy Jeff.

Not sure why, but I can't help thinking you could spend/splurge a little of that trip savings on a whole nice beef tenderloin. You could cut that up and freeze some, have some right away. Home made fries or some Vedalia onion rings...

Now I know why I thought of this - if you're not going to Europe,you should have some really great backyard barbecue, and from my experience there's no sense messing around with any other cut. I think everyone would love it if this thread veered off into a debate about which cuts of meat are best for grilling. I could be wrong.

Having jam kits set up at two separate jam spaces is epic. Good news.

Glenn, great to hear from you! Glad to hear you still have those two drum sets. Family is doing great so far, hope the same for yours!

Mitch, funny you mention barbecue. With no restaurants open and no traveling I decided to go on a hunt for a new grill. Researched for about a month or two looking for an American made product. Been using the old Weber kettle for my whole life but wanted to try something different. Ended up buying a Broil King smoke 500 charcoal grill. First thing I find is a made in China sticker on the shelf. I called Broil King about a week before the purchase to see where they are made. The person assured me all products are made in North America (Canada and USA). Well, now I am not sure where they are made but I do like the grill. I cook out about 6 times a week leaving one night for pizza.

So far my favorite meat is still the ribeye steak. I tried a slab of ribs on the 4th for the first time and it came out pretty good. I will have to look into the beef tenderloin cut. My problem is I only cook for myself, my wife will not eat meat. And I dont care for freezing meat, been doing it lately because we stocked up a bit when the meat plants were shutting down and I swear it effects the quality of it. But I am open for suggestions, it would be okay with me if this turned into a grill thread, not sure if the mods are good with it as this is a vintage drum forum and I respect the fact that they try hard to keep us focused on that. But what the heck the worst that could happen would be us getting yelled at by Tommy, lol!!
