What are good and cheap condensor mics to use on a drum?

AKG C1000s. They're the cheapest condenser mic that still sounds good. STAY AWAY from MXL mics. Get some Rodes if you can afford them.

...you're talking about using them for overheads, right?

For an overall sound of the drum SET, or just a single drum? Either way, the C1000 is a good mic.

audio technica 4050, or the chameleon labs TS-1. Middle of the road budget. If you have money to spend, then the sky is the limit... i would not get a c1000....
