With a gong that small, you just need a boom cymbal stand.

Blair,

I use a boom stand for my 22" wind gong. To prevent any swaying motion, I attached two small hooks (cup holders actually) on a small piece of wood with a hole in the center to mount on the boom (my bad illustration below). It's not quite as stable as a gong stand, but it's held up through many concerts and shows I've done, and you don't have to lug around a big, uncollapsable gong stand. Just a suggestion if you can't procure the gong stand.

Thanks for the info guys...

I found a guy online who sells nothing but gongs..and he said basically the same thing...

Just mount off a cymbal stand...he even sells a adapter to mount it easily...

Got the gong already this morn...thing is heavy!

My digital scale died recently...after almost exactly 25 years of use...so can't use that anymore :-(

..and,my Triple Beam only weighs up to 5 Lbs...so that is not going to work..

I stressed to the guy to pack it properly...brand new 24-24-? tall DOUBLE WALL box/bubble wrap/packing peanuts etc......so...what did he use?

2 USED 18" BD head boxes....! For a 20-1/2" gong!

We are doing a trade, and I was just going to use the NICE box he was supposed to send...with the gong inside...and ship my China to him...

There is no way I am sending my NICE 20" Sabian Jia China cymbal to him in the mess he sent me...my cymbal was around $400 out the door, with discount!

What is wrong with people?

I have a 36" Zildjian gong.

I use to have a nice stand with wheels on it.

I got rid of the stand and hung the gong on the wall beside my drum set.

The stand took up too much room. D' Drummer

I have it suspended from the ceiling a few inches from the wall.

There is foam behind it but it can hang free and be struck pretty hard.

The foam just pads and mutes it a little bit as it moves.
