I was talking with a friend of mine and he was telling me all the newer Ludwig kits he's owned have had problems with the seems lifting. He never had that happen with any vintage kit he's owned. I thought maybe the glue was different on the vintage drums. I had heard that the glue used back in the day is no longer used. Anyone know anything about this?

Ludwig tapes their wrap these days. In the old days they used a heavy duty contact cement similar to DAP. Pretty nasty stuff.
I also use 3M Fastbond when re-wrapping these days. Much less toxic than the DAP stuff and easier cleanup.
