George Way Jellybean Kit

Loading...

I've had a 22" bass drum, 14x14 floor tom and 6.5x14 snare in faded gold sparkle for some time. Last year I found a 12" center lug tom that I had planned on re-wrapping to make a full kit. My dilemma however was putting together a 22/12/14 w/ 6.5x14 kit. It just seemed a bit odd and the wrap that I needed was very expensive. My other thought was to try and fade new glass glitter but because of all the UV protection it was going to take a few months and it might not actually match very well. As luck would have it when I was selling my Ludwig Clubdates I got a call from a local guy and he asked if I would be interested in a 20" George Way bass drum and matching 6 lug snare.

So I did the trade and switched gears to make a jellybean kit similar to what George Way had built for Sonny Greer.

Here's the original Sonny Greer kit before it left the factory circa 1961.

And here's my 20/12/14/16 w/ 5x14 (The green sparkle 16x16 goes to my green sparkle kit)

Steve - man, that one is nothing short of spectacular! With that great Camco sound, it must be a gas to play.

Camco cymbal stands?

Yes, all Camco tri-pod based stands. Along with a George Way cowbell and wood block.
