Well, I was just thinking that this is one cool forum and hey why not treat everyone to something never put on the Internet!

Many of you might know I came across some original photography from Slingerland. You can read the story here.

It kind of reminded me of my life motto " If you do not ask you do not get" that I talked about on another thread. It would have never have entered the collection if I did not go further and make the effort.

Well, I have probably only shown 8 of the 800 or more pictures. The biggest issue I have is that if I show them online they will probably be "Borrowed" and then abused online.

With that said and I really do not want to sound like a big "Whiner" but this site and it's contents are supposed to stay here. My images are pimped out all of the time on other sites without the proper web site credit. This stuff can be hard work. Sitting down and making a 20 scan brochure then sizing them and editing them can take a few hours. I can go on and I do not want to sound like a prude, but when I see my hard work used and not credited, it makes me want to show less and less.

Violin

So with that off my chest just give the credit and if possible ask first and I will at least know my effort is not wasted.

Ahhh the intent of this post was to show my members some never before seen Slingerland photos. I will have to add what is called a Watermark and that is the VSD on the image in different spots so if someone not related to us takes it, it will be next to impossible to remove them.

So with out further ado.......

A picture will be added soon

Hey, I just realized I never asked any questions.

Do we want to see Buddy Rich, drums, parts, shots of

Don Osborne or other endorsers, sticks, marching percussion

snares, hardware, original color swatches, factory shots???

I would like to see some more pages from old catalogs that display the kits.

I'd like to see more pictures and special sections on hardware, much like the "how to fix your zoomatic strainer" section. Those are always the most helpful to me in identifying and fixing drums.

Yes, Pants I have a few things in the works and should be able to shed some light on things. If you ever have a specific request just ask. Did you ever see the hoop article. Next will be a shell article.

So I just dug through a few early scans that I made testing the new scanner last year and decided to make a specific page for these photos. Remember most are B&W and some color. Here are two b&W. The Buddy Rich shot I would gather has never been shown before since I have the original negative. There is a possibility that some collector might have it, but since many collectors never show off what they have here it is. I'm sure the Buddy fans will appreciate his smile!

In regards to scanners I usually run two different ones, a HP ScanJet 5300C and a Microtek ScanMaker i900.

The Microtek can scan as high as 3200 DPI and has a negative scanner and a flat bed built into one unit. The negative scanner can scan up to an 8" x 10" transparancy and other film media as well.

Here is the link. To all of the VSD forum members, visitors from other forums and web sites, enjoy, but remember you can look but please do not take!

Bought my first kit in 1965, Slingerland kit that is a twin to your second photo. Great pics, can we have more? My kit had flat bottom stands, did I have a choice back then? Thanks for a great site... Rick
