Very cool! Not a bad price at all. I would say 70's. I wonder if it was initially a lefty set, because the cymbal bracket on the bass drum is on the opposite side from the normal position, unless it was for an additional splash? Hard to tell, but is there a bracket on the right side too?

Also, that floor tom interior sure is nice. It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like it could be "normal" maple and is distorted by the 2 ply clear head?

What about the Ludwig kit in the background with that beautiful "engraved" looking wrap on it?

There are 2 cymbal brackets on the BD, opposite of each other. I assume one for ride and one for splash?

The birdseye interior of the one FT is legit. I took other pics but didn't include in my post. If all the drums had the same inner ply I probably would've bought it on the spot and then tried to finagle my way out of the subsequent divorce proceedings! It is that gorgeous....

Nice kit! It's most likely a Buddy Rich 80N, which was marketed through 1978 and then called the Fusion in 1979. Same kit, different names. Shells are 5-ply. The biggest issue with these shells was that Slingerland couldn't seem to get level edges...even though their catalogs boasted of leveling to micro tolerances. Just something to keep in mind, but easily trued up by a good tech.

That 12-lug snare drum is the Spitfire, which came out around 1979. If it came with the kit, then the kit would also be around the same year. I had the COB Spitfire. Those 12-lugs made it tough to tune at my young age! Just don't feel you need a snare with 12 lugs. However, if you can get it for a good price, consider it.

See what kind of deal you can get. I don't think that many younger drummers have much interest in vintage Slingerland, so the kit may sit for some time. The owner might lower the price a bit. Let us know if you get them!

Go get them, Its priced right. I agree with Mark its a Br kit. the birdeye interior tom is a 5 ply shell, they are awesome sounding drums. the mounted tom is more than likely a 13" tom.

Completely agree...go get them! $600 is still a great deal, but try making a slightly lower offer and see what happens. I didn't pay attention to the matching snare drum, which is the TDR. Great snare drum! To sound its best, it will need a set of extended wires. Probably sounds good with the "normal" length wires, but the drum was designed for extended wires.

The shell sizes are most likely 14x22, 9x13 and 2 16x16 floor toms. The #190 snare drum should be a 5.5x14.

Looks like one of the FT`s is an 18'' by the spacing of the front leg mounts.

And typically you only get one set of legs on a 22” bass. Are you sure it’s not 24”? It looks like a good deal. Slingerland are still underpriced. I want to go buy them all up! My conscience is telling me not to. Funny how my conscience and my wife sound alike!

I love my Slingerlands and think they sound better than most drums of the era.

I agree. My 24" Super Rock Kit has two sets of legs. However, my Avante 22" also has two sets of legs. But I believe this was the exception to the rule? Avantes needed them because of the extra "tri-drum"???
