Float Paint off Gold Plating - Help

Cleaning Finished:

The drum has been ridden but it IS sweet!

Took these in the wee hours of this morning in Santa's Work Shop.

Yes - there is 'gold wear' and some rub'n damage on the shell.

The gold is not bad and personally I would have never painted it but one of the former owners had his/her reasons for doing so. And just maybe......the spray paint that covered the gold plating helped to preserve it over the years....

The drum sounds beautiful to my ears with these new Remo Coated Ambassador heads. I've ordered two American White calfhides with unglued wood flesh-hoops from SternTanning for this drum.

Christmas came a day early for me this year......

Thanks Mark

Here's a short video clip I took at about 2am this morning right after I got the drum back together. The heads are untuned but I wanted to hit the drum a little in the video rather than just talk about it.

Ahh, yes-- I know the feeling well. Impossible to focus on anything else until the project is done. Outstanding drum and restoration. You are most certainly the right owner.

There was some debate on another forum I belong to about the authentisity of that drum.I'm glad it was the real deal and that you could restore it to its present condition.Clapping Happy2
