First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time and responding. Your Ideas, are always appreciated...

It was a fun challenge to think about. Glad you got it sorted out to the degree you have.

So the cables work on push-pull rather than torsion? I guess they must...

Thanks very much for taking an interest, Mitch. You are right. It's a push-pull device. I'm not happy with the plastic washer used to keep the cable in line (believe it could have a bigger diameter to keep the cable from slipping). I'm not pleased with how I have the contraption mounted either. I have a beater from a very old marching snare mallet I might try as well. The Dixon may be a little too "bright". We have a practice on Sunday and I'll take everything back home to work on it over the holidays. Thanks again, Mitch. I just love to putter. Coming from such an esteemed member, I really appreciate your opinion and input!

I am getting closer, thankfully. I've just spent several hours constructing a 3 1/2 X 3 inch mounting block for the cajon pedal. It is constructed of cedar, spruce and birch. A 1/12 X 2 3/4 slot has been incorporated to snuggly fit the base of the metal cajon mount into the block while keeping my bass elevated about 1 1/2 inches at the front. The cajon comes with mounting spurs. I need to do some fine sanding and attach a felt pad to protect my wrap on the bass. I think I'll use a few coats of tung oil to bring out the various grains. All in all, I am very pleased. Gorilla Wood Glue is great stuff! This mount actually looks like a small woodblock! One step closer. Not a competed project but, coming along!

Just finished staining the mounting block a deep red mahogany. Still needs a sealer but, it looks good! I'll place a felt pad on top later to protect the wrap of my bass. Today, because I'm not happy with how the cable is guided over the pulley on the beater pedal, I'll try to find larger thin washers to replace the small ones. The way it is now, the cable can slip over the pulley with sustained movement. That definitely should not happen. Hopefully, I'll be ready to go after Christmas! If I got paid by the hour for this project, I think I'd have enough for that set of Ludwigs I've always wanted!!!

Thanks for the interest, Rod!

Cheers!

Hi, Rod, Mitch and friends,

Today, I lucked out! The girl at the Fastenal actually seemed to understand what I was talking about and what I needed! Turns out she was a drummer of many years who thought my contraption was a great idea! We hunted for just the right size thinner washers and a couple longer bolts (I brought the factory parts in to show) and after a few minutes, she found them. Basically, I am building a higher pulley guide so the cable will never slip. I went to pay and she said, "No charge, Cool idea. Merry Christmas!" I gave her a few dollars for coffee and a doughnut. We were both pleased. A step closer. I know what I'll use for buffering washers to prevent metal on metal. Pretty sure what I can use as a roller too! Getting there, guys!

Thanks, Rod. Once this is FINALLY finished, I'll ask my sister to send you some pictures. Maybe I should buy a digital camera and get caught up with the times. Tech stuff is not a strong point. Thanks again, Rod. I really appreciate your offer.
