Not mine and I'm not going to get them but these would be a very cool project and make a great practice kit for a small space.

Thanks, Mario. I bought them. I've been wanting a Flat Jacks snare drum for quite a while. The few that I had seen on eBay were selling for more than this entire set cost me. I played a set with this same configuration back in the 60s. Here are a couple of 1964 pictures where the (dreaded) chick vocalist is posing behind my Flat Jacks and a promo picture of the band. The band soon became an all guy group, and the Flat Jacks were replaced with a new Camco set.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Great pictures! One year before I was born...

OK. I bought them. They arrived today in the exact condition the seller said they be--very grungy. He was also accurate by telling me that the drums are a complete four piece set with the second rack tom suitable for a parts donor to the other drums. I plan on spending a lot of time rehabbing these drums one at a time starting with the snare, which is the one drum that I really wanted.

My main reason for posting this is to praise shipping drums via Greyhound bus. The heavy all metal Flat Jacks and accessories all fit in one large box that weighed a little over 60 pounds. The rate for shipping the one box over 50 pounds was $91.40. The drums rode in the luggage compartment of the bus----actually four different busses. The box left Oxnard, California, transferred to another bus in Las Vegas, another transfer in El Paso, and a final transfer in San Antonio. They arrive at a little convenience store/Greyhound stop out in the rural area 21 miles from my house. I specified this as the destination rather than driving a longer distance, and fighting traffic in downtown Houston. The elapsed time from Oxnard to Prairie View, Texas was two and a half days. The box and contents were just fine. Can ya beat that.

I've used this type shipping method now a few times for large items the best and cheapest way to ship.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

OK. Here are some pics that I just shot with my phone's camera. You can see how crusty and rusted the shell is, and how much general shmutz is covering this drum and the rest of the set. The throw off is a simple jobbie that is much like the beer tap throw off on some Camco Tuxedo model snare drums. In its present filthy condition, it sounds very nice and crisp. The drum has a hex rod receiver in case the drummer wants to mount it off of the bass drum.....I may opt for this.

Steve:

I'm the same guy on both forums. I was not allowed to use this screen name when I rejoined the other forum after a temporary leave of absence there.
