First time question about Leedy

Loading...

Howdy folks! I was sent here from ghostnote for help with a vintage question. Here she goes.....

Anybody know what a good street value is for this puppy?

It's a 1960.From what I gather the blue badge is a rare one. It's got all original nickle over brass claws and hoops and is nearly untouched except for the throw which was replaced back in 72.The top 2 holes are visible from the old 3 hole throw.Other than that it's all original including the edges(which I wanna re-cut really bad cause I know it would sound better).Would recutting the edges lower the value?I have a custom made bit to reproduce the original edge style.

Anyway,I'm trying to help the owner raise funds(due to a tragic death).I want the seller and buyer to get a fair deal but I'm not sure what to charge?

Well I can't get the pics to load so here's a link...

The link doesn't work unless you have an account at GN....which I do....so I looked at the drum. It's very pretty and appears to be in great condition. Unfortunately, I have no idea what Leedy stuff is worth. However, there are several people on this forum who DO know about Leedy, so hang tight, check back in over time and someone will give you a general ballpark idea of what you might expect to get on the open market.

In the meantime, go to the Website update section and check into the recent "how to" video instructions for posting pictures.

welcome to the forum.

That would be a Slinger/eedy yes? This is just my opinion but I usually pass on those don't know why I just do. I guess for the 60's I'm usually looking for Slingerland, Gretsch, Ludwig and the other suspects. I think the Leedy guys (I have a couple) are usually hunting for 30, 40's models. Like I said, just my opinion.

30's Radio King - 26, 13, 13, 16
49 - WFL Ray McKinley - 26, 13, 16
58 - Slingerland Duco
58 - Slingerland Krupa Deluxe
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 20, 12, 14
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 22 (need), 13, 16
And some others..

Thanks guys.I've never even seen a 60's Leedy.I figured all they made was 30's and 40's.I have recut a ton of Luddy's and slingy's and the craftsmanship seems tighter than Ludwig.More like Slingy stuff.

Not sure why the photos don't load. This forum seems to have the same set-up as G.N.but no luck. After uploading from my computer the attachments window goes blank.

Your pictures may be too big. Try reducing in Paint.
