When I picked up this Majestic kit, it still had all the original add-ons that came with it originally. Hardware, stands, original heads and even the original throne but it was shredded and cracked, the chrome was all rusty. It looked like dumpster material but I figured it survived all these years so I decided to give it a new life. It's going to stay with this set which is blue/black so I found a piece of blue vinyl, not quite a perfect match but being as impatient as I am I went with it. Not that comfortable on the old can but it looks cool!
First attempt at recovering throne.
Looks Good.
Hey, I've got an old couch that needs................
You are good man.
Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
Very cool. Gotta try that myself. Use original foam?

The original foam was still good so I re-used it but I think on the next one I'll use new foam to make it thicker and more comfortable. I found a site that sells pieces of sparkle vinyl like they used to use on old 60's booths and seats. All different colors. I'd like to make a gold sparkle one to go with the Star kit I'm doing. I love bringing these things back to life.
Yeah, I've seen guys using this to wrap their kits, (isn't this what the dude on ebay is peddling now?) seems to work well. Great idea to use for throne.

That's a great idea, nice job on the throne.

Nice work on that throne. Did you simply stretch and staple? Looks professionally done. In the past, I simply took my thrones to a local furniture upholsterer and had super results that didn't cost that much-plus it got newer/thicker padding to cushion my all-American over sized backside...:)
Beautiful job. I did the same treatment to an old piano stool with a piece of vinyl that simulated ostrich skin. I made the mistake of leaving the original padding/foam in place. Next time I'll know to add that extra padding in at the time of reupholstering. The fabric stores are full of neat vinyl, so finding something to compliment a drum wrap should be easy.
