I'm gont to try vac bagging on my 13" tom for a couple of reasons.
-it's smaller and easier to get in the bag.
-the diameter of the drum is smaller so it has a tighter circle. should be stronger.
-i'm going to place some boards inside the drum to reinforce it.
I don't think my vac pump is strong enuf to break my shell but I'm not taking any chances.
What is this vacuum bag ? and What does it do ?
Did you strip the 24 yet ? There`s a 50/50 chance it`ll be ready to go after a little clean-up.
vac bag is for clampin venner on shells during glue up.
Oddball....here...http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=39811&page=2
Have you talked to FEDX ? You have before shipping pics. Dated !i
So you put this drum in a bag and vacuum it tight to the veneer ? I would think coiling a 1/2" rope around it would hold tight.
it mite Oddball but vac bagging puts equal pressure everywhere.
That hoop is folded over for strength, gonna be difficult to repair. Some advice, the bent rods are hardened steel the first impact will bend and temper it, and if you go too quickly straightening it out, it`s brittle now and may snap. VERY SLOWLY !i
You do know that the damaged part of the hoop is where you`ll be putting the pedal now ?
Yeah. pedal def goin there. hopefully I can get it back pretty close.
I got the rods straightened out pretty good. Slow was the way.
If it wasn't a player's drum before, it is now.
the reinforcement boards keep the plastic bag from goin inside the drum.
just one of a couple methods I'm going to try.
