Just picked this up on line yesterday for $150 and am about to restore.
Will post "after" pics once all parts are in place.
Has a busted throw lever ,but I picked up a complete one up off of eBay for $75 bucks.
The wrap looks pretty decent ,no dents or obvious wear.
Considering I have accumulated a bunch of spare parts ,this should be a pretty decent restore.
You're probably right about antiqued brass for the wrap.

Well, I was just being friendly and diplomatic! :) It is indeed the "Antique Brass" metal laminate, as Fibes called it back in the day. Regarding the SFT ... so you're the one! :) I saw that that had SOLD on ebay. Very cool! That badge dates the drum from 1970 up 'till late 1974, so that is great too! Should be a beauty!

Unfortunately the throw has an ovaled snare knob hole.
It's nearly worn through and the pins seem to be falling out and need to be reseated.
No returns on this item ,so we'll see what E bay says.
I've had these repaired ,but it's like $25 or 30 bucks for somebody to weld a support piece over the hole.

That BLOWS!, and I'd say you have a good case here. The part is damaged, and unless it was listed as such, or listed as "as is", no way they can't allow a return or your money back. Just from a good customer service standpoint you should be allowed a return/refund, or some cash back towards a repair. Hopefully that will be the case!

Looks like the guy is going to refund $40 bucks towards the price of a fix ,so I can live with that.
Just got in a trio of differing butt plates too,so I'm going to play with that on my other SFT 690 projects.
I had some spare throws and just used one of them to complete this project.
So here are some before and after picts.
The wrap and finish are in pretty good shape with the flaw being some of the antiquing chemical causing spots on the finish(that was a Fibes QA issues as I had a set of the same finish with the same problems when I bought new).
Chrome is pretty spotless ,so all in all a decent restore project.

SUPERB!, that the seller is going to make it right for you! The drum looks GREAT! Nice job .. and .. yeah, the Antique Brass and Antique Copper were prone to that "spotting" over time. This one looks pretty nice though, as I have seen so much worse! I suspect the cast hoops dry and focus the sound a bit, which is not necessarily a bad thing with a fiberglass shell, contingent on exactly what sound/note you are going for. Looks GREAT!

And a new vid of the snare
I still got a few more to restore
