Gibralter All The Way
I always judge a players creativity on their use of the hi-hat, double bass just doesn't do it for me. Guys like Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers, Bernard Purdie, and Carter Beauford to name a few are extremely creative in their hat playing. They can turn a simple groove into so much more.
You know it. Nothin I love better than playin my 15" sound edge on the back beat. who does it better buddy or bonzo? I know buddy didn't play paiste back in the day. but he might have if they were around...
I have two that I love. One is my Peace dual leg ( forget the model name ) has tension adjustment. Never gives me any issues and always stays where I need it. The other and the one I usually bring to all my shows is my '90s Tama HH85R. Both just have that right feel.
I'm going to get boo'ed off the stage, but my all-time favorite hi-hat stand is a Tama stand I bought way back in the 80's. I don't care what kit I'm playing, but my Tama hi-hat is always at my side. I love that thing. I use heel/toe technique and it's just such a smooth, quiet (you don't hear any metal on metal sounds, squeaking, or clacking) and responsive unit to play.

I use my old Slingerland Krupa (837?) hi-hat stand a lot... just feels like good karma.. and it still works great. I don't think Gene Krupa actually ever used the model they named after him but I just like the idea of bringing a little bit of the Krupa magic with me. :) If I'm playing outside or feel my gear could be at any risk of walking... that pedal stays home and I to bring a disposable Tama hi-hat stand along... and it works great.
Fun when old threads show up. Have a Tama and Pearl that are serious stout. Ludwig Spur Lok was go to for years until the nylon link gave out. Buddy has a 3-D printer so replacement for that on the way.
Of late like the old 30/40's HH's. Light, fast and cool.

I have a Tama Titan legless hi hat stand I use with two bass drums. It snuggles right up next to my right bass drum pedal (left handed) so it is still nicely within reach. The pedal board matches my King Beat pedals.
With the club dates I use the stand that came with them.

Whats your favorite, most reliable Hi-Hat stand?I rock a late 80's early 90's Remo Dynamax ,3 legged HH stand. This stand has seen non-stop action for 20 years and never misses a beat. I cannot find another HH that has the feel of this little beauty. Not quite "vintage" but its the most reliable stand i've ever played. [new or vintage] (and the original owner says the same thing) As well as those who play it. Jump For Joy We don't really talk about HH's to often, so i thought this would be a neat topic of convesation. So, what HH stand seems to work magic for you all ?
Right now it's my Ludwig Atlas Classic hi hat stand. Sleek looking, light as a feather yet pretty durable (so far ;)), and super smooth action.. Can't ask for anymore than that. !
