Favorite Drum Brands

We haven't kicked this around in a while. So, let's try it now. What are your favorite brands and time periods of vintage drums? I'll start it off.

1a: Slingerland drums from the late 1940s through the late 1960s

1b: Leedy drums made by Slingerland from 1956--1965

2: Walberg and Auge drums from the late 1950s through late 1960s

3: Rogers Swivomatic era from late 1950s through 1969

4: Oak Lawn Camco drums from 1961 through the 1960s

You may notice that my preferences end with 1969. The few exceptions are some Slingerlands from the very early 1970s that were much the same as their late 1960s drums and some Rogers Swivomatics from the early 1970s.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

All USA-made Rogers

All Ludwig up until 1980

For sound and design innovation: Peavey RadialPro (not really vintage but no longer available)

For "Science Fiction"/Futurism aspects: Trixon, Arbiter, Ludwig Vistalite, Zickos Supersonic

For small combo jazz: Gretsch RB bop sizes, King Bobcat drums (made by Buzz King)

Stuff that I would love to have (but fat chance): Billy Gladstone snare drum, Carl Palmer's ELP stainless steel kit...

I dunno...I change my mind on these things, regularly.
