Fair Price on a Rogers Holiday?

Loading...

Greetings,

These appeared locally. Bass drum is obviously heavily modded and is starting to look like Swiss Cheese. I also don't see a paper tag in the bass drum and would a chrome metal hoop on the bass drum be original?

Also, how is the rack tom staying on the arm without a collett? Seller says rack tom has mods as well, though they are not shown in the pictures. Seller is asking $880. I know it's Rogers Holiday, but that still seems high to me, given the condition, although they are in the very desirable 12/14/20 configuration. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

V

It is high but there is a good chance somebody will pay it. Great sizes and is modified but not “damaged”. This is one of those really tough calls. It would nice to see what is going on with the tom regarding mods. You could grab it, play it and keep looking for clean shells to move the hardware on to. Get an offer out there... like $500. If he doesn’t get calls he might want to move it quick. Good luck!

$800?! Save up another $200-$400 and go buy a no excuses kit. You will spend that in getting this kit up to shape, but never get your investment out of the kit if you sell it. The kit needs at least two bass drum hoops and 8 correct rods and claws for the bass drum. Then you would have to deal with the big hole in the bass and probably holes from another mount on the ride tom. You would also probably have to address cracked lugs on all drums. No, Rogers didn’t use metal hoops on those drums.

Addendum.... I didn’t catch that the kit had a 14” floor tom. Very nice plus, but not a game changer to me.

$500 including shipping for the floor tom and two project drums is the highest I'd ever consider paying for this set.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I would only buy that set if I needed the BDP 14" floor tom. Which I don't, because I already have two.

But if I did need it, and there were enough solid B&b's to complete the FT, I would definitely pay 5 bills for the set. Then sell the small tom, and part out the bass drum.

FT + parts + shells = $500. Goes to show you drummers are usually cheap as $hit.

The FT alone ... ah, forget it ....

Point well made Mr. Hobbs... floor tom alone could be priced at $800 and be a bargain in some markets.

I buying it if I'm close enough to pick it up and I like B&B style drums, which I'm not and really don't. Would try for all the discount I could get, but would not shy away, particularly since it is restorable and new lugs are on the way!
