Finishing 1960/62 leedy bdp set piece by piece and,.... The tom owner put a slingerland mount n it. Didn't like the shovel/spade original. But no new holes were needed for the new mount but sure enough five small holes are under the mount from some serious bonehead dude from way back. Question : should I or shouldn't fill these holes ,can't imagine sound would be dramatically different, maybe a little more strength for the shell. These holes will covered by the shovel mount on the tom. Should I leave well enough alone. What would the experts/collectors/purist do. ?

I'm definitely not an expert, but if the mount is going to cover the holes, I would leave it well enough alone. If they will be exposed, then I'd want them filled.
