Does anyone have an idea of what the effect of replacing the steel hoops with chrome over brass triple flanged hoops on a snare will be? I have a 1965 6.5 Supra and a 6.5 1970's Black Beauty that I was going to try them on.
Thanks for your help.

It will astound you the sound becomes vibrant and bell like in it reverberations

That is a very subjective opinion. Most of us would not be able to hear any difference if the drum is tensioned exactly the same with both types of hoops.

Ha ha !! wouldn't your statement apply once again!?! Jumping2 . Just experiment see which you like better!
It will change the sound of your rim work dramatically.
If the steel hoops are also triple-flanged, I stick by my opinion that very few people would hear any difference. Is the original post intended to say that the steel hoops in question are not triple-flanged?

It wont change the sound of the drum much if at all. The weight wont matter but steel and brass sound far apart. I don't like the softer sound of COB hoop rim riffs.
