Early DW

Loading...

In case anyone is interested. Here is a very early set of DW drums, exactly as I bought them (except for the cut out head).

They were purchased from the original Guitar Center in the early 80's, and were probably the first DW set ever sold from Guitar Center. Very few people were aware of DW at the time and they sat on the floor at GC for several months until I couldn't stand it anymore and took out a loan to buy them for about $1500 as I recall.

Great drums! What's the serial number 3 digit prefix?

Never play it the same way once.

Nice kit, looks well taken care of. Collectors may be interested in the ser# or first few digits because from what I understand DW did not keep records of them on early drums. If you still have receipts or loan doc's that may really help people trying to establish a ser# dating guide.

Hey

Just received my early DW snare last week and played it last monday. I put a Vintage A on it and it sounds lovely!

Really great and beautiful drums!

Your kit must be great also. Same as LA Camco with different bearing edges, isn't it?
