What tells you that a cymbal is an "EAK" as opposed to just a used one? Is there a stamping to look for? What years constitute EAK?

NO serial numbers....

And don"t forget, the EAK is 100% hand made (not hand guided machine made or 100% machine made).

Is it definitely the case that all EAK's have the 'K' on the underside? I picked up a couple of K's for a song - the ride (which has departed) had the 'K' underneath, but the Dark Crash has 'Zildjian'. The crash looks to be hand hammered to me. Maybe a few slipped through the net? Anyhow the crash is a keeper...

I have found that the Intermediate Stamp K's (K top...Zil bottom) are usually real nice...

I had an 18" crash once that was out of this world......

Yes...Maybe a few slipped through the cracks........

Sometimes, the EAK hats had nothing on the underside.

Matt,...

How do you tell the EAK hats then?

Intermediate stamps do not have anything on the bottoms also, correct.?

It can be a little tough, Blair. I look for the fine lathing of the EAKs and evidence of hand (or hand guided) hammering.

Here's a good example. I got these from Mario Calire many years ago.

Not sure about the intermediates. I've never had a pair.

Thanks,

Matt

The K logo on the EAK's was larger than a later K cymbal.

The later ones are also more lathed and less hammered.

The black ink K logo goes out more to the outside edge of the cymbal on EAK's then newer ones
