I posted in the non-US section about this early 80's Pearl USA Maples set I picked up a few weeks ago. I got some time to finish the floor tom. I'll update the others as I get them rewrapped.
Enjoy.
Steve
They look really nice, love the wrap choice!
Bass & 14" tom finished. I need to clean / repaint the bass hopes then put on the inlay strips.
Also, I was short a few claws & t-rods and just found a set on ebay. Those should arrive in a week or so.
Now I need to find replacement tacks or tiny screws for the badges.....

Painted the hoops. I'm going to order inlays from Precision. They'll come in perfect, where I risk the chance cutting them wrong. The reso head is an Aquarian smooth with the logo removed with fingernail polish. The Pearl decal was bought off of ebay.
Put it together for another pic.
Steve
That is nice clean work sir.
Looking Great.
Thanks for the compliments!
I think I might replace the floor tom leg mounts with some more modern Pearl mounts. Something that I won't need to drill new holes, of course. Going to scour ebay and see what's out there.
Steve
Nice looking project and good luck completing it.
Q: What color wrap is that?
[QUOTE= Q: What color wrap is that?[/QUOTE]
Titanium Sparkle. Bought it a couple of years ago from Precision.
I was actually looking for beat up Gretsch round or SSB orphans to use it on, but saw this on the local Music Go Round's website. The fact that they are Keller shells intrigued me. Got them for a good price also!
I'm not a huge fan of the coffin lugs, I guess because Pearl used them on about 10 million stencil kits over the years. But I wanted a Pearl kit back in the early 80's, and if I had the cash to get them, it probably would have been something like this. Actually, a kit with 1 up, 2 down, like Topper Headon of the Clash played, is what I would've gotten, but this is close enough.
I'm keeping my eyes out for a 18" floor tom......
Thanks.
Steve
Your kit looks really nice!
You are definitely moving in the right direction and, I can't wait to see the finished product.
