Early 80's Corder (Fibes) set back from the dead…

Loading...

I found these very thin 6 ply of maple Corders set a couple of years ago a long with a bunch of other drums. They were gathering dust on my workshop until a friend told me he was looking for an affordable set of drums on bebop sizes. He didn't have the dought to buy em but he hook me up with his mechanic and we bartered the drums for transmition work on my 1966 Ford Falcon van! (If you're local and need work on your vintage van I know the guy to go for!) The drums were on a terrible state. Black paint on top of them, stickers…The whole punk drum set treatment. I stripped the paint and old lacquer off and then sand them to a very smooth finish. 12 coats of Polyurethane lacquer brought them back to life. Then the classy Fibes lugs were put back and a nice set of Taye 18" Mahogany finish bass drum hoops as the finish touch. (Thanks to Drummerfish for hooking me up with the hoops!).

8x12 (cut down from 11x12)

15x15

14x18

All the drums are virgins. No brackets on them.

I think the Bass drum was a gong drum or something because it had no spurs. I installed straight Jazzette type spurs on them.

Hope you guys dig the final result! They sound sweet!
