early 70's Slingerland grommet

Loading...

Hey there everyone,

I rescued and now restoring a 20" Slingerland kick drum that had seen better days back in the early 70's.

Removal of the original oxidized chrome wrap was a remarkably easy. Practically fell off. I carefully removed the badge. Now, I need to replace the grommet after I decide whether to re-wrap or sand down to a natural finish.

What is the exact grommet I need?

These look pretty good. The S&H fee is a little expensive but if you buy a few it evens things out sorta. They are very nice grommets though~!

This is the exact grommet I used in my BR 4x14 tribute drum, currently showing in the gallery section. Yes, S&H is pricey, so I purchased 3 grommets to help offset that cost.

I would also recommend a GOOD flaring tool, due to the stiffness of the fairly thick aluminum. There is a current post about a homemade tool. I honestly don't feel they will work to properly flair the inside of the grommet.
