ear plugs

MME, check out disposable silicone earplugs as they don't stand out like a sore thumb, so they're great for clubbing louder "lounges" etc...

Walgreens brand clear silicone: https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-soft-silicone-ear-plugs/ID=prod6191592-product

I think these next two may be white than clear in color:

I use Etymotic plugs. They are cheap and work great - they don't so much muffle the noise, rather they just turn it down whilst retaining all the tonal qualities (they just take a bit of the hiss outta my hih-hats).The only regret I have is not getting them earlier - I already managed to damage my hearing a bit and I'm way too young for that - and forgetting to take them with me to that WW2 re-enactment thing... I'm probably gonna hear the echoes of my submachine gun forever... :(Protect your ears!

Whoa! WWII re-enactment? I'm all ears (pun intended)!

Allright, sorry for an off-topic post.

Actually, not a re-enactment, to be precise, but a LARP (Live Action Role Playing), sorta like theatre with 50 actors and no audience (you play for yourself and the other players), in which you don't know the full script in advance and can substantially influence the outcome of the play. Everybody has a lead role in their own story. Plus there's bunch of people playing the non-player characters. Really REALLY immersive experience, hard to explain how it makes you feel... you get to understand and appreciate the history a lot more, because you've sort of... been there.

It's more about personal stories, moral dilemmas etc. than about any realistic simulation of combat (although you do get to smoke some nazis).

The topic of this particular LARP was the aftermath of the defeated uprising against the nazis in Slovakia in 1944, so the characters were an assortment of guerilla fighters, communist plotters, escaped Russian POWs, Czech soldiers, Slovak soldiers, fascists who decided to switch sides, etc.... I played a French socialist who went through Spanish civil war, North Africa and Eastern front in search of revenge on the fascists.

It was great.

You can check out some photos here (I am the only guy with a submachine gun):

That RULES. I'm a huge WWII buff and I would love to do something like that. Thanks for sharing! Those pictures are great.
