DW clamp on spurs vs precision drum

Loading...

Hi

I'm playing a 1958 wfl with a kick that's moving a lot. I'm thinking about using either dws clamp on spurs or precision drums. I'm concerned about damaging the drum and negatively effecting the sound. The dw clamps onto the rim and behind the head vs precisions clamp which only clamps to the rim. I think the dw could effect sound the most and precision could do the most damage. Anyone use any of these or have any ideas?

I need some new clamp spurs for my '47 radioking so I'm interested in anything anyone has to say here too.

First thought was it looks like the DWs are threaded feet with a spike 'inside' like normal bass spurs but the precision ones look to just be a rubber foot.

I used the DW clamps with the generic gibraltar l-shaped spurs. Worked great.

Thanks for the input!

I went with the dw spurs and I think I'm sticking with them. They attach nicely to the rim and are even lined with felt where they touch the wood. Overall, I think the design is better for stability and the drum itself.

... if you guys are looking at other systems, check out the ludwig atlas spurs. I have a club date so they don't work for me but seem like a good option for others.

The DW ones look solid but so modern. I think the Precision ones would fit in better with the aesthetic of an old kit.

I have the DW spurs and they work great. I have them on both a 28"and 26" bass drum. I have no regrets whatsoever...

I purchased DW hoop mounted spurs about two years ago as I was unable to find Premier bass drum spurs for a 1970's 14 x 20 bass drum.

They look great and the bass drum stays put all night long.
