Welcome to the world of over sized calf heads....sometimes you will find an old head that will work but that's rare. You can 1. send the original flesh hoop to Stern Tanning and they can mount a head for you... 2. search out this and other forums for guys that can also mount heads for you, Symphony/Orchestral players are good at this... 3. contact Remo, Aquarian, Evans for a special order... 4. Send back the drum if the seller misquoted the size (a very common occurrence with these old Duplexes)... Those old Duplexes are cool drums aside from the over sized heads and scarcity of parts. So far I've tucked 4 calf heads and it's not really all that difficult. I was scared to death to try but in the end it was kinda fun to do. Stern heads are really nice and easier to tuck than many.
