I acquired a Ludwig wooden tambourine and there is some old duct tape that has dried and left a nice crusty residue. Any suggestions on how to remove it WITHOUT harming the natural wood lacquer finish. This is an older Ludwig tambourine with the L and G almost connected on the stamp, so I'm assuming it's mid-60's. Any help is appreciated and Thank in Advance.
Duct tape residue removal on bare wood
Soak in WD40 and it, let it there for a wee while then it comes off easily without harming the the laquer!!
,-)
Mineral turps will also usually dissolve tape residue.. should not affect the laquer ..

Gary!
Will acetone impact the lacquer? I used acetone that comes in a container for fingernail polish removal to completely loosen and remove decades old tape residue from a Ludwig bass drum batter head. Can't even tell that there was ever tape attached now!
How's your weekend going? I'm at Eve's this weekend. Just played my Downbeat kit for 30 seconds!

I have always used Goo Gone. $1 at the local dollar store. I use it to remove duct tape residue. Pour some on and let it sit for a half hour. Then scrape it off with a plastic utensil. I have removed ages old duct tape residue from old heads and all kind of things.
I`ve had luck using NeverDull to remove tape residue on other surfaces...Maybe it will work for lacquer as well??

Acetone will remove the lacquer.
Turpentine is great.
