Downbeat vs clubdate

Loading...

Whoa, boys! Check out the bidding war on the ebay Champagne Sparkle "Club Date" kit - the one that Jaghog first mentioned to us. 6 bidders have run the price tag up to $1500 in 3 days, with 3 more days to go! At least one of the bidders has an auto-bid and it's working hard to keep up! :-)

ebay item number: 304313145807

And by the way, I asked the seller for the badge numbers: Bass14x20 SN 371935 Floor Tom 14x14 SN 371937 Mounted Tom 8x12 SN 369285

That's a good looking champagne sparkle Clubdate kit *edit* shell pack, I mean...but I disagree with the listing..."Unmodified".........*psssst...the bass drum was repainted*. It appears they did a good job of repainting and I'm glad they disclosed that fact... but I would certainly consider that as a modification since it isn't original.

That 1966 Champagne Sparkle "Club Date" kit (3 piece shell pack) went for $2250 on ebay! Whew! I didn't think it was worth half that amount.

That's good news for those of us who have vintage collections, but that was certainly a case of someone's "just gotta have it" syndrome.

Been there, done that! :-)

That's a premium price for that shell pack, but I'm glad to see prices like that, anyway. I sold my complete Deluxe Classic kit years ago for just a bit more than that shell pack went for.....

Related comment, guys...Just finished watching "I am Woman" on NETFLIX, the 2019 bio of singer Helen Reddy. Tremendous! ! ! ! !

Couldn't help notice two Clubdate kits being played during concerts - the first (that I noticed) was in Champagne Sparkle, the second appeared to be Silver Sparkle. The third kit that I noticed was maybe a Slingerland - the tom mount looked like a Slingerland to me, but I'm not knowledgeable on those drums.

If you get a chance, I'd highly recommend that biography. I give it 5 stars! And you can pay more attention to the drum kits than I did - they are only seen for a couple seconds each.
