Hey gents, and a Happy end to this Easter wk end. Out of curiosity, i always wondered what the actual value my downbeat piccolo snare drum was. I usually know a ball park value, but seeing as how many of you Ludwig experts know quite a bit more than i do in this regard, i thought i'd ask your opinion. There is some cracking in the wrap around the badge (minor), some non original tension rods, and even though i have the original throw off, it is missing the small screw and bolt that allows the lever to lift the throw-off up and down.. I replaced it with new a version of the P-84 lever but kept the original part which is what is shown in the pic as part P-1007, and one missing original lug screw and washer. These appear to be the only issues.. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Btw, no way am i selling this snare drum ;) It is one of my prized possessions in my little collection. ;)

And sorry about the pic being crooked. I just couldn't fix it.. Lame

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp





once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

A perfect one would go for about $400, that is all original parts, working, little to no fade or rust, no cracks in the finish.

Deduct from there: non original rods, strainer, cracks in the WMP. Probably in the $275 range.

I though so as well! I checked sold listings on Ebay though and found that Human71's estimate to be right on the money. Most recent they have sold close to , but still under $400. A rare green sparkle sold for over $900

I used to keep track of these but stopped to concentrate on my cymbal pricing research. Interesting to see the historical (pre GFC) situation and how at $400 prices are pretty much as they have been. The older median expected price (for completed sales) was $440 with half selling for between $351 and $591.
