I just think sometimes people take themselves a little too seriously when it comes to old drums....any drums really. Wanted to talk a little "fake smack" to lighten the mood. Im glad a couple people found it entertaining. Toilet

Nice job of blowing smoke our way...I have a bee keeper friend who uses smoke to calm the bees in the hive before entertaining them...so effective!

I think it comes down to passion. We are passionate folk to be sure!

Whatever is your passion (vintage drums in our sphere) elevates emotion to hyper levels and bursts like water over Niagara, either in effusive praise or derogatory prose...heaped on the one who's either for or against you.

Debate is a good thing though, as long as we observe the rules that keep it healthy.

After reading this thread and being a total drumming newbie, I must get an acrolite to hear it for myself. I have a 5x14 Powertone so perhaps a 6.5X14? If you have one to part with regardless of size please mail me or PM.

Moonlight, Love that collection. You seem to have all the bases covered.

Question: Do any of your Acro's sound different? I was always under the impression that with Acro's and Supra's, the sound differed little from the 60's to now due to shell material and construction. This of course assumes the same heads, snares, tuning, etc.

Thanks, Guys. They actually do sound different. To me, the Blackrolite and 80's gray powdercoated shells sound brighter than the brushed aluminum shells of the 60's and 70's. I prefer the warm and open sound of the 60's Acro I have...plus this baby came with factory-crimped snare beds, COB hoops and has a pre-serial badge! This one is my fav...it even sounds better than the 70's version that I have.
