Does repainting a BLACK Clubdate kit t/s flaking count as a modification?

Hey all -

A black CD kit that's flaking : is it a sin mod to repaint the black flaking off? Or should it be left alone.

Have a lead on a 60's kit in such cond. - yet haven't seen anything yet. This not a kit I'd typically bother w/ but seeing that in Mpls everything vintage disappears into some vortex I never get a chance to bid on ... I gotta look at what does enter my radar.

I had a 12x18 blue and silver duco Ludwig bass drum with paint flaking. I carefully removed the loose bits and had the color matched at a shop. Using a small brush I painted the missing areas, thus retaining the majority of the original paint.

FYI

Never play it the same way once.
